“Year of the SUV” for Dongfeng Peugeot

In Shanghai, Peugeot goes on the offensive in the Chinese market’s most dynamic segment

“Year of the SUV” for Dongfeng Peugeot

In the space of a year, Dongfeng Peugeot has overhauled and enriched its SUV offering in China. The new Dongfeng Peugeot 3008 presented at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show, the new Dongfeng Peugeot 4008 specially tailored for the Chinese market, the new Dongfeng Peugeot 5008 launched at the same time in China and Europe, and, in a few weeks’ time, the new Dongfeng Peugeot 2008: from the B-segment to large 7-seater SUVs, Peugeot now boasts the most modern, richest SUV range it has ever offered on the Chinese market, where these vehicles represent 43.36% of total passenger car sales, up 19.55% (in a market up 7.36% in total).

This SUV offensive is based on recognised qualities of Peugeot SUVs on the Chinese market:

  • A stunningly visionary design that blends strength and balance, power and efficiency. This design is even futuristic in the passenger compartment, with the Peugeot i-Cockpit®, which offers a novel driving experience by rewriting the rule book of the driver’s position and optimising the driver’s pleasure and concentration in a cluster of high technology.
  • The exhilarating driving experience is enhanced by impeccable road-handling and recognised dynamic qualities symbolised in China by the T+G combination (1.6 and 1.8 THP engines and Grip Control), which offers power and efficiency.
  • The vehicle offers high-end driving-assistance and technological features that are vital in a market keen on new technology and where the average age of new-car buyers is 35 years.

The Shanghai Motor Show will be exhibiting Peugeot's SUV know-how with the Peugeot DKR, after the historical 1-2-3 in the Dakar 2017 rally. As the show gets underway, Peugeot Sport will be getting ready to defend its title in the Silk Way Rally. This magnificent 8,000+ km rally raid covers Russia and Kazakhstan before arriving in China. This year, it will start in Moscow and finish in Xi’an, the former capital of Imperial China and departure point of the Silk Road. Following Cyril Despres’ triumph in 2016, the Peugeot Sport lions will set off again this summer to tackle the steppes of Russia and the world’s most beautiful dunes in western China with the aim of doing even better.

Lastly, we are diving into the future and its automotive revolution: In Shanghai, Peugeot is presenting its Peugeot Instinct Concept for its Asian unveiling. The car is the brand’s new demonstration of a connected, autonomous vehicle. Its world-first reveal took place in Barcelona, Spain, in February at the Mobile World Congress. Peugeot Instinct Concept was designed with one underlying idea in mind: freedom. Freedom to drive or be driven. Freedom to choose a driving style. Freedom to optimise travel time while remaining connected to friends and family. The Peugeot Instinct Concept responds perfectly to Chinese consumers’ aspirations in a hyperconnected country with the largest community of internet users in the world, where vast open spaces are punctuated with the planet’s largest, densest megalopolises.

The Dongfeng Peugeot stand will welcome visitors in Hall 7.2 of the National Exhibition and Convention Centre in Shanghai.
