At the 16th Algiers International Motor Show, in the presence of Maxime Picat, the Brand CEO of the Marque, Peugeot presents, with the 208, the 208 GTi , the 301 and the 2008 urban crossover, the assets that will assist in the continuation of its offensive on the Algerian market.

Peugeot at the16th Algiers International Motor Show from 19 to 29 March 2013

Peugeot saw an exceptional year in the Algerian market in 2012 : with sales doubled (+ 99 %) to 66 000 cars and light commercial vehicles, the Marque recorded growth twice that of the market and a market share of 15 %, against 11 % last year.
The leader in the car market and 3rd in light commercial vehicles, Peugeot took 2nd place in the market overall in 2012. The Marque’s best selling model in 2012, and in second position on the Algerian market, the Peugeot 207 attracted more than 35 000 customers, ahead of Partner and the 308.
The momentum continues into the start of 2013: in January, Algeria constituted the 3rd market for Peugeot in volume, behind China and France.

A wide and diverse range
The Peugeot stand at the Algiers Show reflects the Marque’s ambitions, illustrated by a wide and fulfilling range that meets the expectations of a loyal but demanding customer base.

In the B segment strategy, Peugeot will benefit in Algeria, as in many other markets, by the growing power of the 208. Heir to the Marque’s 2-series saga, 208 revisits the codes for its category, as much by its elegant and athletic exterior styling, its cabin and its completely reworked ergonomics, as by its latest generation engines with particularly well controlled fuel consumption and its reduced weight, contributing to a unique driving experience.

A first in Algeria, 208 GTi revives the legend.
Three-door body style with a strong identity, lighting signature at the front, exclusive 17’ wheel rims, sophisticated handling of materials and colours, specific interior ambience: even before switching on the ignition, the 208 GTi, an expression of a sculpted, athletic and elegant Peugeot style, attracts attention. Driving pleasure awaits: the 208 GTi capture the essence of its very efficient 200 hp 1.6 litre THP engine coupled to a close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox, while keeping its CO2 emissions to 139g/km.
208 GTi will appear on the roads in Algeria in the last quarter of 2013.

The Peugeot stand at Algiers also gives much space to the Peugeot 301.
The 301 continues, with reinterpretation, the great tradition of la the Marque’s 3-box saloons.
An affordable and fulfilling 3-box saloon of 4.44 metres in length, designed to meet the expectations of customers purchasing a new car for the first time, in terms of style, comfort, technology content and strength, 301 is built at Vigo (Spain), with production and sales in China due at the end of the year. The worldwide sales objective for 301 is 150 000 units in a full year.
With a particularly successful launch behind it, the 301 is already taking its place as a major player in the Algerian motoring scene. The 301 has attracted more than 11 000 customers since its December launch in Algeria at the Oran Motor Show.

Visitors to the Algiers Motor Show can hardly fail to stop in front of the 2008 either.
In Europe, China and Latin America, engineers and stylist have worked together to create the 2008 urban crossover, bringing together the Marque’s expertise in the world of city cars and its recognised know-how with crossovers, as signalled by the success of the 3008
An original motoring offer in the B segment, 2008 is destined to win new customers, in new continents, contributing to the momentum of the Marque’s move up-market and internationalisation.
The 2008 is a compact crossover (4,16 m), agile and multi-purpose, with a refined and distinctive style, for young urban dwellers that like the city – but also like to escape from it, by reconciling motoring pleasure with respect for the environment.
Matching the dynamic air created by its profiled outline, the 2008 hides engines of the latest generation under its bonnet.
Athletic design, new driving experience resulting from the small wheel and head-up instrument panel, comfort of the highest level associated with benchmark performance on the road and the quality of its materials and finish: the 2008 is the expression of those Peugeot’s strengths that have already won approval on the 208.

The Peugeot 4008 is also unveiled to the Algerian public, fitted with a 112 hp 1.6 litre HDi engine, before the arrival in early 2014 of a 150 hp 1.8 litre Diesel engine.

Peugeot Algeria: a professional and committed dealer network

In the Marque’s product offensive, Peugeot Algeria relies on its quality dealer network, evenly spread over the country. Following the inauguration of the 5 new Blue Box dealers in 2012, which brings the number of partners to 37, new entrants in 2013 will strengthen the confidence of investors in the Lion marque.
The quality of service to customers is at the heart of the Marque’s promise.
In Algeria, ambitious training programmes for technical-sales and after sales service dealer staff will strengthen this commitment.
Algeria is also an important light commercial vehicle market. The inauguration in 2012 of the Dar El Beida assembly plant with the body builder Gruau, European leader in light commercial vehicle conversions, and Mobitec, aims to meet the special requirements of business customers. With these converted vehicles, the Marque has expanded the light commercial vehicle range offered by Peugeot Algeria.

Peugeot promotes road safety in Algeria

During the press conference held on 19 march at the Algiers Show, Maxime Picat handed a cheque, in the name of the PSA Peugeot Citroën Foundation, to Mme Flora Boubergout, president of "El Baraka“, an association dedicated to making Algerian society aware of road safety issues, through events in schools and universities.
