Peugeot 208: leader in its category in Europe in December 2012

After the historic success of its , the 208 has reinvented the codes for its segment in 2012, with an objective: win back the leadership of its category in Europe.
By the month of December 2012, just a few months after its launch, the 208 took its place at the head of the category in the Old World: with 19 400 registrations, it won 7.8 % of the strategic B segment, which accounts for nearly 30 % of the total European market for private cars, ahead of the Renault CLIO 4 and the VW POLO.
It appeared on the podium in many countries in the area and was on the top step in particular in France, Spain and Portugal and on the 2nd in Holland…
After its launch in Europe in the 2nd quarter, the 208 continued its international deployment during the second half, which it will complete in a few months with the start of sales in Russia and the industrial launch in Brazil for the Brazilian and Argentine markets.
Since launch, 38% of customers have chosen upper versions of the 208 (level 3 and 3+).
With an already wide range of 11 engines – 6 petrol, 5 Diesel including 4 e-HDi – with power outputs from 68 to 156 hp and particularly well controlled fuel consumption, 208 will see its range crowned in a few weeks by two emblematic versions: 208 GTi, which brings the legend back to life, and 208 XY, the chic and exclusive urban car …
The 208 has already been distinguished by numerous European awards, in Croatia, in Spain, in the United Kingdom, in Ireland and in Italy and is counted among of the finalists competing for European “Car of the Year 2013 “.
