A 1.6 litre BlueHDi 100 S&S PEUGEOT 208 has set a new long-distance fuel consumption record, under the supervision of UTAC. 2,152 kilometres were covered on 43 litres of Diesel, an average fuel consumption of just 2.0 l /100 km (141.2 mpg). This record confirms the technological excellence of the Euro 6 BlueHDi Diesel engines and their contribution to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

Revealed to the general public during the 85th Geneva International Motor Show, the new PEUGEOT 208 was presented in its Orange Power livery. To this bright, young and dynamic colour are now added two textured colours, original in their application and appearance, and a world premiere on a production vehicle: Ice Grey and Ice Silver. This innovation is topped off with an additional Lime Yellow personalisation pack which, as with the Menthol White pack shown at Geneva, can be applied separately to the exterior or to the cabin.

Three years after its launch, the PEUGEOT 208 – the brand’s best-selling model – has a new look. No area has been neglected in the creation of this new generation vehicle. The assertive styling, sportier and classier, elevated by the 3D LED rear lamps fitted as standard, with original colours such as the sparkling Orange Power and a new range of personalisation options. The range is expanded with the GT Line and GTi by PEUGEOT Sport, underlining the brand’s move up-market. More equipment is available to ease driving in urban conditions (Active City Brake, MirrorScreen, Reversing camera, Park Assist). The PureTech and BlueHDi meet the latest Euro 6 emissions standard with notably the most economical internal combustion engine in the world consuming only 3 litres per 100 km and producing just 79g of CO2 per km! The new PEUGEOT 208 will be on sale in Europe from June 2015.

Out on 1st October The PEUGEOT 208 GTi 30th plays the leading role in “The legend returns” on show from 1st October on YouTube. This realistic 3D photo film revisits on of PEUGEOT’s most emblematic advertising films, “The bombardier” created by Gérard Pires (Taxi, Sky Fighters) in 1984 for the 205 GTi. Staged in the style of a blockbuster, the launch of “The legend returns” is accompanied by the provision of digital content on social networks.

PEUGEOT presents to the public the 208 GTi 30th anniversary at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, the launch will begin in November 2014. 30 years after the 205 GTi, PEUGEOT reinterprets the legend in a more radical version of the 208 GTi. The 208 GTi 30th delivers more intense driving sensations with its new Euro 6 1.6-litre THP petrol engine developing 208 hp and torque increased to 300 Nm. It is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, with exceptional traction and efficiency assured through the specification of a Torsen differential and specific suspension and steering settings. Its sporty and assertive temperament can also been seen in its stance and look, in particularly by its two-material livery, separated by a sharp dividing line.

PEUGEOT unveils the 208 GTi 30th anniversary edition on the occasion of the Goodwood Festival of Speed. 30 years after the 205 GTi, PEUGEOT reinterprets the legend in a more radical version of the 208 GTi. The 208 GTi 30th delivers more intense driving sensations with its new Euro 6 1.6-litre THP petrol engine developing 208 hp and torque increased to 300 Nm. It is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, with exceptional traction and efficiency assured through the specification of a Torsen differential and specific suspension and steering settings. Less than a year after launch, the 10 000th PEUGEOT 208 GTi, certified “Origine France Garantie” (Made in France Guarantee), has just been built at the Poissy plant. While this year PEUGEOT is celebrating 30 years of the 205 GTi, this 10 000th example of the 208 GTi confirms the success of this reinterpretation of the legend and PEUGEOT’s strategy of moving up-market in the B segment.

In a difficult vehicle market, the 208 is a real success. Cumulatively, for the first seven months of 2013, the 208 takes 3rd place in the B hatchback segment in Europe 30. With a market share of 9.6%, it needs to gain a little less than 1 point to seize 1st place. Looking at the details, the Peugeot hatchback is on the podium in many countries: 1st in France and Holland, 2nd in Switzerland, Portugal, Denmark and Norway, 3rd in Belgium, Luxembourg, Croatia, and Sweden. This excellent result for 208 is owed in particular to its range of efficient engines, both Diesel and petrol. To reinforce these positive results and gain additional market share, a new 1.2 e-VTi 82 ETG5 version further reduces CO2 emissions to just 95g/km on 208, equal to the fuel consumption of 4.1 l/100km (68.9 mpg).

During the Peugeot press conference at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, Maxime Picat, Peugeot’s Managing Director, announced that the 208 HYbrid FE has exceeded its objectives. The Peugeot Total partnership had passed a new limit for a non plug-in petrol full hybrid vehicle: 46g CO2/km, equal to fuel consumption of just 1.9 l/100km (148.7 mpg).

Continuing years of commitment to improving vehicle energy performance, Peugeot and Total are combining their capacity for innovation once more in a breakthrough project: the 208 HYbrid FE. The aim is to design a vehicle combining real driving pleasure (0 to 100km/h / 0 to 62 mph in just 8.0 seconds) and with low emissions of CO2 (49g/km). This technological demonstrator will benefit from Peugeot and Total's latest innovations in aerodynamics, weight-saving and drivetrains. The performance of this technological demonstrator will be achieved without the use of a top-up energy source (non plug-in petrol technology) and taking as its base an already very efficient production vehicle. 49g CO2/km, 0 to 100km/h / 0 to 62 mph in 8 seconds… This means halving the emissions of the most economical of the petrol engines (Fuel Economy) while obtaining acceleration worthy of a small sports car (so Fun and Efficient).
