Rüsselsheim.  Head for the hills or hit the beach? Regardless of the destination for the Easter holidays, the cars, vans and sport utility vehicles from Opel – Grandland X, Combo Life, Astra Sports Tourer, Insignia Sports Tourer and the new Zafira Life – all have one thing in common: loads of space and comfort for passengers and their luggage. Most important of all – the luggage must be safely and securely stowed, after all, the journey should be as relaxing possible. Opel therefore offers a wide range of practical equipment for its various models.

Up to 1,665 litres: Opel Sports Tourers offer loads of room for luggage

Lots of space and the flexible distribution of luggage are the strong points of Opel‘s estates, the Astra Sports Tourer and the Insignia Sports Tourer. The Astra Sports Tourer features 40:20:40-split rear seats and up to 1,630 litres of luggage volume. The Insignia Sports Tourer offers another 35 litres of space. With 1,665 litres of luggage room, the flagship Opel estate is ideal for fully-packed long distance driving. The same goes for the elegant Grandland X. Opel’s top SUV offers not only 1,652 litres of luggage volume, but also the SUV-typical high seating position that gives driver and passengers good visibility.

Opel has even thought about how to access the boot if your hands are full: the optional, sensor-controlled tailgate of the Astra and Insignia Sports Tourer, and the Grandland X, open with a movement of the foot under the rear bumper.

The optional FlexOrganizer® keeps Sports Tourer boots neat and tidy. Thanks to rails in the floor, divider-nets and various attachments, there is a place for everything in the boot. As in the estates, a grid for protecting the passenger compartment from objects in the boot can also be installed in the Grandland X. In order to prevent luggage in the boot from moving, even under heavy braking, a safety net that attaches to lashing-eyes in the floor is also available for the Grandland X. Clever accessories such as double-sided mats and water-resistant floor covers are also on offer.

Those who want to take more luggage with them in their Opel estates and vans will find a big choice of flexible transport and carrier systems that create additional storage space. With their standard roof rails, the Opel Sports Tourers can carry maximum roof loads of 75kg (Astra), 85kg (Grandland X) and even 100kg (Insignia). Roof boxes and bike carriers, which are easy to load and unload, are easily installed. Opel offers a variety of rear-mounted bike carriers, as well.

A place for everything: Transport boxes and more for a neat and tidy boot

Families also travel safe and organised in the Opel Combo Life multi-activity vehicle and the spacious Zafira Life van. The roof becomes an additional transport surface thanks to roof carriers for boxes or bicycles; and with four (Combo) or six lashing eyes (Zafira Life), the luggage in the boot can be secured. In the Combo Life, “Best Buy Car of Europe 2019”, an optional grid separates the passenger compartment from the boot. In addition, numerous accessories, such as various mats and floor covers with anti-slip layers, protect the luggage compartment from the knocks and scratches that often occur during loading and unloading.

An additional, extremely practical holiday-accessory is the two-way split, foldable transport box measuring 61x34x31cm. It can carry many of the smaller objects, such as cards or books that are otherwise left lying around. If the box is emptied and no longer needed at the destination, it can be folded down to a thickness of only 3.0cm.

Safety for all: Special seats and belts for small passengers and four-legged ones

Opel also thinks about the safety of the youngest passengers and offers child seats and restraint systems for children of all age age groups (ECE-R 44/04 standard), tailored to fit each model. In the Combo Life, for example, three child seats can be installed next to each other in the second row. The seats can be easily clicked into place, thanks to the ISOFIX attachments or standard three-point belts.

Last, but not least, four-legged members of the family often make the tip as well. So it is safety first for them too. Dogs weighing up to 8.0kg can ride safe and relaxed on the rear seat, thanks to a special canine safety belt; and when he is sitting comfortably on the dog blanket, the seats are protected too. Alternatively, dogs can lie down on the trunk floor cover with anti-slip layer, as in the Grandland X.
