At Home at Opel: Klassik Tour Kronberg Celebrated in Rüsselsheim
  • Highlight: vintage car rally with stop in front of Adam Opel Haus
  • Taunus tour: 105 vintage cars admired and applauded by spectators
  • Home game: Opel participates with CEO Lohscheller, star guests Buck and Hain

Rüsselsheim. Detlev Buck and Jeanette Hain were thrilled when hundreds of Opel fans celebrated the two film stars on their arrival in front of Adam Opel House. Director Buck ("Asphaltgorillas") and actress Jeanette Hain ("The Cellist") drove an Ascona A and a Manta A into Rüsselsheim to the applause of spectators. The Opel headquarters was the intermediate destination of the Klassik Tour Kronberg yesterday. 105 vintage cars were underway through the Taunus from August 29 to 31.

On the final day, Opel opened its headquarters to employees, spectators and all rally participants, offering lunch and cold drinks. Participants of the Klassik Tour Kronberg parked their treasures in front of Adam Opel Haus. In the building, the manufacturer presented one of its most famous historical studies – the Opel CD, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller in the 1975 Opel Diplomat B and Vice President Communications Harald Hamprecht (1972 Opel GT) were also among the participants. Both drivers joined the Opel Classic teams and mingled with the public for interesting car talk, where the subject matter also included the new Opel Corsa, which made a guest appearance at the oldtimer rally.

Opel CEO Lohscheller says, “The enthusiasm for our brand was once again palpable. Our models stir up emotions, no matter if it‘s yesterday's classics, current models like our flagship Insignia or the new Corsa. At a vintage car rally like the Klassik Tour Kronberg, the interaction with our customers is particularly intensive and valuable.”

Opel fans can also take a closer look at the manufacturer's upcoming models at the IAA in Frankfurt from September 12 - 22. In Hall 11.0, Opel will show true world premieres under the Messeturm with the next generation of the Corsa, the new Astra and the first plug-in hybrid Grandland X. There will also be a battery-electric version of the Corsa, which will even have a racing version – the Opel Corsa-e Rally.
