Italian excellence comes together: Luminosa Bogliolo leads Lancia Ypsilon to Japan

  • At the starting blocks is a partnership in the name of elegance, talent and “Made in Italy”.
  • From today, Luminosa Bogliolo – the four-time Italian 100 metre hurdles champion, about to start competing in Japan with the Italian national athletics team – is Lancia’s new brand ambassador.
  • Alongside her is the refined, seductive Lancia Ypsilon, women’s favourite city car for 35 years, with 3 million units sold.

“Lancia Ypsilon has always been a benchmark for women, so much so that in Italy they represent 62% of the people that buy it,” stated Luca Napolitano, CEO of the Lancia brand. “Together with Luminosa Bogliolo, we intend to promote an all-Italian sporting excellence, ready to face new challenges, which is exactly what is happening to our brand nowadays. Different stories, united by the same shared values of passion, elegance, Italian culture and new ‘hurdles’ to be faced, with commitment, determination and talent. The hurdles is the result of a balance between style, speed and elegance, features of our brand and of our cars since 1906.”

The 26-year-old Bogliolo came to athletics after a great deal of experience in other disciplines, and has swiftly forged ahead: Italian champion for 4 years running in the 100 meters hurdles, a gold medal at the 2018 Mediterranean Games, more golds at the 2019 Universiade and European Cup, the Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL)’s 2020 Athlete of the Year and another Diamond League gold, silver at the 2021 European Championships and representing Italy 10 times at international athletics competition.

Alongside her is the Lancia Ypsilon, the only true “fashion city car”, over 3 million units sold in its 35-year history, mostly to women attracted by its streamlining that never goes out of fashion and always remains on point. The same has recently been seen in its latest incarnation, the Ypsilon Hybrid EcoChic, fitted with a 3-cylinder 1-litre Firefly gasoline engine running at 70 hp, paired with a 12-volt Belt-integrated Starter Generator (BSG) electric motor and lithium battery, aimed at reducing consumption and CO2 emissions. After all, Lancia aims to build a better world, where technology is at the service of the environment and where beauty is the real engine of change.

Lancia Ypsilon Hybrid and Luminosa Bogliolo are now ready for this new challenge, to be faced together.
