The new e-THP 130 turbocharged petrol engine, the latest addition to the PureTech family, powers the Citroën C4 into the limelight

The PureTech family is growing in 2014 with the arrival of a turbocharged version, the e-THP 130, the first PSA PEUGEOT CITROËN Group petrol engine to comply with the Euro6 standard. Consistent with its "Créative Technologie“ philosophy, the CITROËN brand is innovating and moving into a new era by fitting the e-THP1 30 on the CITROËN C4. The new powertrain, boasting generous torque from low engine speeds and a broad operating range, takes petrol-powered driving pleasure to a new level and invests the CITROËN C4 with verve and vitality. The technologies used on the new engine provide remarkable performance while reducing CO2 emissions to among the lowest in the class.

UNCOMPROMISING DESIGN FOR MORE POWER AND PLEASURE AND LOWER FUEL CONSUMPTIONOutstanding driving pleasureThe choice of a 3-cylinder architecture and a specific set of technologies, including a direct-injection turbocharger and variable timing, fulfilled the demanding specifications set out for the engine while bringing drivers outstanding at-the-wheel pleasure. The e-THP 130 is strong on performance, developing 130 bhp at 5,500 rpm and maximum torque of 230 Nm at 1,750 rpm. It is also a compact unit, with considerably reduced weight and dimensions conferring class-leading driving pleasure and efficiency. The driving experience is further enhanced by a 6-speed manual gearbox.Downsizing to up performanceThe e-THP 130 engine’s high specific performance level of 80 kW/l and 190 Nm/l enables improved engine efficiency and reduced capacity. It reduces CO2 emissions by 23%, from 143 g/km to 110 g/km, compared with the current 4-cylinder engines while offering drivers plenty of at-the-wheel pleasure by supplying generous torque from the lowest engine speeds. Equipped with a high-efficiency (240,000 rpm) latest-generation turbocharger, the e-THP 130 engine strikes the ideal balance between low-speed torque and power, with 95% of torque available from 1,500 rpm to 3,500 rpm.[...]
