The latest addition to the Citroën Racing fold is also among the front-runners in various national championships with the performances of #C3Rally2Family drivers in Europe and Latin America.

Citroën C3: the perfect build for Rally2
  • Developed with the expert knowledge and engineering of Citroën Racing’s technicians, the C3 Rally2 has quickly stood out from the rest with first-class performances on all surfaces. Competing in the WRC2, Mads Østberg and Torstein Eriksen have made a sound start to the season in the top level of the Rally2 category. Winners in Croatia at their first rally of the season, the C3 Rally2 crew made the perfect start to their title defence. Consistently on the podium, be it on Portugal and Sardinia’s demanding stages or the ultra-fast roads of Estonia, Mads Østberg and Torstein Eriksen hold second place in the WRC2 standings at the midway point of the season, just three points behind the leaders.

  • In the WRC3, Yohan Rossel and Alexandre Coria wasted no time in establishing themselves as the men to beat after winning the opening round of the season at the Rallye Monte-Carlo. Showing complete confidence in the C3 Rally2, Rossel and Coria successfully negotiated the tricky gravel roads in Croatia and Portugal to claim two consecutive podiums before returning to winning ways in early June in Sardinia. More than 15 points clear of their closest challengers in the WRC3, the C3 Rally2 crew is set to defend their lead at the Ypres Rally Belgium in mid-August.

  • Reigning European Champion with the C3 Rally2, Alexey Lukyanuk is attempting to defend his title in a very closely contested championship. The Russian driver, alongside co-driver Alexey Arnautov, sent a clear statement to his rivals as he claimed victory at the opening round of the season on Poland’s unusual roads. Consistent and quick in his C3 Rally2, Lukyanuk tops the ERC standings after the first three rallies of the season.

  • Whilst the C3 Rally2 has assured its status as one of the leading models at international level, the “best seller” of Citroën Racing’s customer racing range has also forged a strong reputation for itself in the national championships. Back in the French Rally Championship for a full programme with the C3 Rally2, Eric Camilli claimed victory at the Rallye du Rouergue to grab the lead in the Championship. Camilli took over at the top from Yoann Bonato, winner of the opening two rounds at Le Touquet and in the Vosges with the C3 Rally2. William Wagner also showed strong pace in the C3 Rally2 as he took the final podium spot at the Rally du Rouergue.
  • In Spain, Jan Solans is looking like a firm contender for the title in the Spain Superchampionship with the C3 Rally2 after winning the Rallye Tierras Altas de Lorca. On the other side of the Alps, Damiano De Tommaso won the legendary Targa Florio in his C3 Rally2 in the Italian Tarmac Rally Championship. In addition to his WRC2 programme, Mads Østberg made his debut appearance in Hungary up against a host of competitors more familiar with the local roads. Nevertheless, the C3 Rally2 driver was consistently near the top of the timesheets and won the Mecsek Rallye in June.

  • Formidable in Europe, the C3 Rally2 has also impressed on the other side of the Atlantic with Ricardo Cordero Jr., who leads the Mexican Rally Championship with two wins and a second place in the first three rallies of the season.

  • Having collected more than twenty rally wins around the globe in the first half of the season, the C3 Rally2 has shown its versatility with a unquestionable level of performance. Recent testing held in Finland by Citroën Racing’s technical team enabled the engineers to introduce some improvements to the set-up to improve even further the efficiency of the C3 Rally2.

WHAT HE SAID…

Didier Clément, Head of Customer Racing, Citroën Racing

“The C3 Rally2 has made a very good start to the season with its various drivers. It has been especially quick in the trickiest conditions and at the highest level. Across the WRC, ERC and the various national championships, the C3 Rally2 has secured a host of podiums and rally wins, which confirm its very high level of reliability and performance. The purpose of the recent tests run by Citroën Racing’s technical teams was to keep fine-tuning the slightest details and put the #C3Rally2Family drivers in the best possible shape to help them win their respective international and national championships at the end of the season.”
