After Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia’s hopes of a strong points finish were dashed by a hydraulics issue on SS2, the Citroën Total World Rally Team – whilst its C3 WRC undoubtedly showed significant progress on tarmac – was unable to prevent the drivers’ and co-drivers’ world titles being claimed by their rivals this weekend.

After their misfortune on day one, Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia bounced back today like true champions, finding the resources necessary to move back into the points (8th place) whilst showing the improved competitiveness of the C3 WRC on tarmac.

Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia made the perfect start in winning the opening stage, but unfortunately then suffered a hydraulic failure that dashed any realistic hopes of victory. Meanwhile, Esapekka Lappi and Janne Ferm were forced to retire from the rally altogether with an engine related issue. It was a tough day for a team that came to Spain determined to fight all the way.

The only genuinely mixed-surface rally on the WRC calendar, the penultimate round of the season will see Citroën Total World Rally Team crews Sébastien Ogier – Julien Ingrassia and Esapekka Lappi – Janne Ferm charge into battle once again, the French pair determined to keep challenging for a seventh consecutive world title in the C3 WRC.
