  • Dariusz Poloński, co-driven by Łukasz Sitek, is the new champion of the series reserved for the Abarth 124 rally. In the Czech Republic, his fourth victory of the season won him the title.
  • In round 4 of the FIA ERC, Dariusz Poloński and Martin Rada were also on the ERC2 class podium, while Roberto Gobbin took fourth in the class.
  • The Barum Czech Rally Zlín is confirmed as one of the most exciting rounds of the FIA ERC series, with the Abarth 124 rally drivers able to manage the weather variables and the difficult special stages on the Czech tarmac.

Dariusz Poloński, co-driven by Łukasz Sitek, is the 2021 Abarth Rally Cup Champion with two races to spare. The 45-year-old Pole, in the Rallytechnology Abarth 124 rally, also won in the fourth round of the season of the FIA European Rally Championship (FIA ERC), at the Barum Czech Rally Zlín, securing victory in the series reserved for Scorpion cars. After a second placing in 2019 behind Andrea Nucita and a 2020 characterized by ups and downs with a win in the Rally Islas Canarias ahead of the 2020 champion Andrea Mabellini, the experienced Pole managed to secure his place on the roll of honour for the series reserved for the Abarth 124 rally, courtesy of victories on the gravel of Poland and Latvia and on the tarmac of the Rally di Roma Capitale and the Barum Czech Rally Zlín.

Dariusz Poloński: “We’re very happy because this was an extremely tough rally and one of the most difficult I have ever run. It was important to take points in the Abarth Rally Cup to finally win the title, something we’re very proud of! The points in the ERC2 standings are very important too. We had some trouble in the wet with the rear-wheel drive, but our Abarth 124 rally was perfect and that was crucial for the overall result”.

In the rally run on the tarmac of the Czech Republic, the new Abarth Rally Cup champion also took second place in the ERC2 class, on the class podium together with Martin Rada and Jaroslav Jugas (Agrotec), who gave a good performance in what proved to be one of the most exciting and complicated events of the FIA ERC continental series. Podium in the Abarth Rally Cup and fourth place in the ERC2 standings for Roberto Gobbin and Alessandro Cervi (Evo Motorsport). Poloński's excellent performance also certified his twenty-fourth position overall in round 4 of the European Rally Championship on the Czech tarmac, which was as treacherous as expected on Saturday, due to the alternating dry and wet conditions. The new Abarth Rally Cup champion had to deal with slippery tarmac, meaning he needed to hold back on the second run of the difficult Pindula stage.

The Abarth Rally Cup 2021 season will enter its final phase with the last two rounds scheduled for October 22nd-24th at Rally Hungary and on November 18th-20th with the Rally Islas Canarias.

Abarth Rally Cup Standings: 1. Dariusz Polonski (POL, Rallytechnology), 100; 2. Martin Rada (CZE, Agrotec Abarth), 36; 3. Roberto Gobbin (ITA, Evo Motorsport), 33.
