Stellantis unterzeichnet Lithium-Liefervertrag mit Vulcan Energy

Vereinbarung unterstützt dekarbonisierte Versorgung mit Schlüsselrohstoff für elektrifizierte Fahrzeugbatterien Wichtiger Schritt, um ehrgeizige Elektrifizierungsstrategie von Stellantis voranzutreiben

Amsterdam, 29. November 2021Stellantis N.V. (NYSE / MTA / Euronext Paris: STLA) („Stellantis”) und Vulcan Energy Resources Ltd. (ASX: VUL) haben heute die Unterzeichnung einer verbindlichen Vereinbarung („Vereinbarung") bekannt gegeben: Vulcan wird die Stellantis-Gruppe in Europa mit Lithiumhydroxid in Batteriequalität für elektrifizierte Fahrzeuge beliefern. Der Fünfjahresvertrag sieht vor, dass die Lieferungen im Jahr 2026 beginnen.

Die Liefervereinbarung mit Vulcan ist Teil der Elektrifizierungsstrategie von Stellantis, die im Rahmen des EV Day im Juli 2021 vorgestellt wurde. So soll die ausreichende Verfügbarkeit wichtiger Rohstoffe für die Batterie-Packs elektrifizierter Fahrzeuge gewährleistet werden. Stellantis plant, bis 2025 mehr als 30 Milliarden Euro in die Elektrifizierung und Softwareentwicklung zu investieren. Gleichzeitig will das Unternehmen weiterhin 30 Prozent effizienter sein als die Branche in Bezug auf Gesamtinvestitionen und F&E-Ausgaben im Verhältnis zum Umsatz.

Diese Vereinbarung ist ein weiterer Beweis dafür, dass wir den Wettbewerbsgeist haben, unsere Ziele zu erreichen", sagte Michelle Wen, Chief Purchasing and Supply Chain Officer von Stellantis. „Eine sichere, saubere und erschwingliche Mobilität wird von unserer Gesellschaft gefordert − wir setzen uns dafür ein, diese starke Erwartung zu erfüllen.”

Bis 2030 sollen über 70 Prozent des Absatzes von Stellantis in Europa und mehr als 40 Prozent in den USA auf emissionsarme Fahrzeuge (LEVs) entfallen. Alle 14 Unternehmensmarken sind bestrebt, die besten vollständig elektrifizierten Lösungen ihrer Klasse anzubieten.

Das Zero Carbon Lithium™ Projekt von Vulcan im Oberrheintal in Deutschland nutzt geothermische Energie zur Herstellung von Lithiumhydroxid in Batteriequalität aus Sole ohne fossile Brennstoffe und mit minimalem Wasserverbrauch. Dadurch wird die Entstehung von Kohlenstoff in der Lieferkette für Batteriemetalle reduziert.

Unser Standort in Deutschland, in unmittelbarer Nähe zu den europäischen Gigafabriken von Stellantis, ist ganz im Sinne dieser Strategie. Wir freuen uns auf eine lange und produktive Zusammenarbeit zwischen Vulcan und Stellantis. Dabei achten wir darauf, unsere gemeinsamen Ambitionen in Bezug auf Nachhaltigkeit und Dekarbonisierung zu erreichen.”

Vulcan wird Stellantis während der fünfjährigen Laufzeit der Vereinbarung mit mindestens 81.000 Tonnen und maximal 99.000 Tonnen Lithiumhydroxid beliefern.

Die Liefervereinbarung steht unter dem Vorbehalt der erfolgreichen Aufnahme des kommerziellen Betriebs in der Vulcan-Anlage und der vollständigen Produktqualifizierung.
